  • Rebrand: Career & Employment Initiative for Youth

    McBride Career Group Inc. offers a program which provides participants with opportunity to improve self-esteem, confidence, hard and soft skills necessary to improve the education/employment potential of youth aged 17-30 years of age. This group based program will provide integrated, coordinated services for youth which incorporate basic living skills, career information and counseling, computer literacy and technical business skills, as well as employability skills to increase work linkages. All activities evolve according to an Individualized Action Plan (IAP).

    The Rebrand Program is offered in Edmonton, Calgary, Strathmore, Okotoks, Red Deer and Ponoka.

  • Growth 4 U

    Growth 4 U aims to assist underemployed or unemployed adults with disabilities, specifically self-identified mental health barriers (mild to medium), in the Edmonton area to overcome barriers to employment and develop the skills and knowledge necessary to make a successful transition into the labour market or return to school.

  • Early Learning and Child Care Program

    This training program is 18 weeks long and allows the participants to receive their Child Development Assistant certification and 380 hours towards Child Development Worker certification. 5 week practicum, child first aid and criminal record checks are also included in this program.     Serving your needs in the Foothills area, this Centre offers a wide range of resources and services to assist any Albertan seeking career and employment supports.

    We provide assistance with resume development and cover letters, interview preparation, career and employment counseling, as well as information on educational and funding options. We also offer employment workshops and computer training sessions. Our Centre offers a career resource library, job postings by employers from local and surrounding areas, and access to computers, printer, scanner, fax, photocopier, and telephone. We also provide current information regarding other community services and upcoming events.

    MCG offers services for employers as well. Employers are able to host mini "Job Fairs" in our Centres, participate in our Annual Career & Employment Expo, and post their available positions to our website which are advertised in the in-house job binders. We also offer an "Employer Spotlight" which allows Employers to provide information on their business and provide resource materials to job seekers.

    With an award winning service and an environment where job seekers are heard and offered support, this Centre continues to live up to its reputation.

  • Experience Counts: Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW)

    This program was designed specifically to meet the needs of the more experienced, mature workers aged 55 to 64 (exception may be made for 50 - 54 and 65 years plus). Learning is done in a group environment and is led by informed profession. Content and delivery of the six week workshop portion of the program is current, relevant and respectful of the wealth of information and experience that participants bring with them.   • Growth 4 U

    Growth 4 U is a supported employment program for persons with mental illness. Clients develop a Return to Work Action Plan and attend various employment related workshops. They are then placed in an 8 week paid Work Experience placement and assisted to find employment if they are not hired on by their placement company. The program is no cost to participants and intake is continuous.

  • Construction Pre-Trades Training (CPT)

    The Construction Pre-Trades Program is designed to provide employment preparation and technical training to adults (age 18 and up) for a wide range of employment opportunities in the construction industry. There are 15 weeks of in-class training which includes 10 weeks at NAIT. After training is completed, participants are assisted with a 1 week work experience with a goal of employment in the industrial trades that may lead into apprenticeship.

    Workplace Training partners with employers who can provide individual-centered programs, on-the-job training, and paid work experience. Participating employers agree to train or provide work experience for a predetermined period of time, with the expectation of the individual being able to engage and maintain employment in most cases with the same employer.

  • Construction Pre-Trades

    Learn to work in residential and commercial building, woodworking, installation and a variety of other construction related careers. Receive certification in Standard First Aid, CPR-C, (CSTS) Construction Safety Training System, WHMIS, and Fall Protection. You will receive pre-trades certificates from McBride Career Group and SAIT.

    This program is designed for any job-ready Albertan between the age of 18-63 who is ready, willing and able to enter full time employment immediately. Clients must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident who is either underemployed or unemployed. Clients will receive an assessment, employment assistance, and access to our resource centre.

    Clients are placed into at least one of the following components of the program: Direct Employment Placement and Support, Direct Job Match or Unpaid Work Exposure/Experience based on either skill set, interest or needs.

    Employment assistance activities will include:

    • One-on-one coaching
    • Interview and job search skills
    • Targeted resume writing and cover letters
    • Short courses and employment readiness support
    • Career cafes and career fairs
    • Job retention and follow-up support

    This program is designed for any job-ready Albertan between the age of 18-63 who is ready, willing and able to enter full time employment immediately. Clients must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident who is either unemployed or marginally employed. Clients will receive an assessment, pre-employment assistance, and access to our resource centre.

    Clients are placed into at least one of the following components of the program: Literacy and Essential Skill Workshops, Direct Employment Placement and Support, Job Match or Unpaid Work Exposure/Experience based on either skill set, interest or needs.

    Pre-employment assistance activities will include:

    • One-on-one coaching
    • Interview and job search skills
    • Targeted resume writing and cover letters
    • Short courses and employment readiness support
